Young people today seek greater challenges, and climbing and rappelling offer a worthy challenge. Individuals to choose the level at which they want to participate in the various climbing activities.

Battle of Flowers Parade
The Battle of Flowers appreciates the Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council youth who help carry the big United States and Texas flag (20 x 50 feet) each year along the 2.6-mile route of San Antonio’s largest day parade.

High Adventure
Scouting America's High Adventure program is a series of outdoor trips that challenge Scouts mentally and physically. The trips are designed to help Scouts learn to work together, overcome challenges, and live in harmony with nature.

Historic Mission Trails
The trail was developed by the local lodge of the Order of the Arrow in 1968. A lodge committee led by Earle Harben and his son, Jerry Harben, mapped the trail, designed a patch, printed informational pamphlets, and won approval from the council and national authorities.

International Scouting
Scouting America's International Department and the SHAC International Committee work to help Scouts and leaders from the BSA to experience the bigger picture of Scouting and connect with it through our involvement in the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

Jamboree
Scouting America's National Jamboree is a gathering of Scouts, leaders, and guests that takes place every four years. It's the organization's biggest outdoor educational event.

Merit Badge University
Merit Badge University (MBU) is a Scouting event that helps scouts earn merit badges. Scouts can learn about a variety of topics, including citizenship, communications, emergency preparedness, and more.

Project COPE
"Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience" is a program involving a series of physical and mental challenges on a ropes course, designed to develop teamwork, communication, trust, and problem-solving skills.

Range and Target Activities (RATA)
RARA teaches safe firearm handling and marksmanship skills to youth through activities like archery, rifle shooting, shotgun shooting, and sometimes knife throwing, all conducted in a controlled and supervised environment with age-appropriate training and equipment.

Scout Nights / Days
Scout Nights (or Scout Days) are extraordinary events where Scouting meets community fun! These events are organized in partnership with local businesses and venues to offer exclusive activities at reduced rates.

Scouting Expo
The Scouting Expo invites all the Alamo Area Council’s Scouts, Leaders, Community Leaders, and Families to an evening event spotlighting all the exciting adventures the Council has to offer.

Scouting for Food
Each year, our Scouts, leaders, and parents collect millions of items that serve food pantries and families within the Greater San Antonio Area, which includes Bexar and the 12 surrounding counties served by the Scouting America, Alamo Area Council.
